Yum Pediatrics is the General Pediatrics practice of Dr. Nimali Fernando. We are located at the corner of Courthouse Rd. and Leavells Rd. Our office houses a large “teaching kitchen” to help guide our patients to make healthy food choices, and to host the cooking classes for “The Doctor Yum Project”, a nonprofit founded by Dr. Fernando.
In spring 2014 we will unveil our outdoor waiting space for well patients to play actively while they await their checkups, and learn about growing food in an urban setting.
Appointments Please arrive for your appointments on time. We encourage families to fill out paperwork online through our patient portal. A portal pin number can be obtained by calling our office. Appointments can be made by calling the office or by using our patient portal. Appointments can also be rescheduled through the portal up to 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. If you are transferring from another practice, we ask that you bring a copy of your child’s medical records prior to your first appointment so that we may have time to become familiar with your child’s medical history. Patients will not be seen without a copy of their medical record. Triage After hours calls and calls on holidays will be taken by the hospital triage service. We also recommend that you use your own insurance companies triage services for after hours calls. If you feel you need to be seen during hours that our office is not open, we recommend Prime Care which has two locations in the Fredericksburg area. Prenatal Visits Choosing a pediatrician can be easier if you can meet the healthcare team that will be guiding you through the care of your new baby. That is why we offer prenatal visits. Call our office to schedule a prenatal visit so that you can meet our nurses, tour our office and ask any questions that you may have. Insurance Plans
